About

My first experience with a GPS, or Global Positioning System was more than a decade ago. I was stationed in Tokyo with the Air Force. With adventure in my heart and darn little Japanese in my head, I frequently got lost off base. I bought a Garmin at the base exchange, and set a waypoint at my house. Back then you couldn't download maps, but I still thought the GPS was the greatest thing since sliced bread, because now no matter how turned around I got, I couldn't get so lost I wouldn't be able to find my way home. Well soon I added waypoints for all the popular destinations- parks, shrines, and stores. Before I knew it, my little GPS became very popular as friends wanted to borrow it to go off on their own. No more hand drawn maps and poorly drawn directions. Today's GPS units can do a lot more; on a trip with my brother we once located every Sonic restaurant within a 10 mile radius, in a strange city, in less than a minute. Need help in the woods? A GPS unit can tell you exactly where to tell the rescuers. Some can even signal them for you. They're just handy, and if you're going off on an adventure on your own, they can make the trip faster, safer, and more fun. Whether your passion is a boat, plane, car or a hike, a good GPS makes all the difference. Make GPS Ferret your first waypoint and get that new GPS, then get out there!
